This spring has been the best in recent memory. The warm weather has allowed me to watch the buds transform into leaves and flowers from my balcony each day. It's has been extraordinary to witness the birth of a new season, a new beginning, sometimes within the span of a few short hours. The experience has been cathartic for me, as spring always is, feeling renewed and full of hope. It has been refreshing to savor these moments.
Getting through this winter was a struggle. Issues at work, SO being away and my surgery presented me with many trials to overcome. Minor things in comparison to the crosses that many have to bear, but in my comfortable, relaxed existence, these sharp curves in my life path were very distracting. I tried to stay focused on what was best for me while trying to envision the bigger picture.
Work was the most challenging hurdle to clear and I managed albeit with a few scrapes. They are still smarting today and I will have more decisions to make in that arena in the future.
My choice to have back surgery was one that I do not regret. The only current side effect that I have is a feeling of constriction in my throat. A Google search has comforted me in that this is common and will hopefully subside within six months. My next post-op visit with my surgeon is in a couple of days. I hope to be released for physical therapy and be able to get rid of the neck collar. It's been uncomfortable lately with the warm weather and the sensation of choking. I'm ready to be liberated.
SO has been home since the end of March. A week-long trip is scheduled for the beginning of May to Europe. We hope to have the entire summer to do as we please. Plenty of camping and home renovations are on our wish-list for the next few months. I'm ready.
You've undoubtedly earned this "rebirth" of sorts... The crap makes you appreciate the non-crap all the more, huh. LMK what the doc says, please. Thanks :-)
So glad things are looking brighter for you. xo
