It is 10:45pm. I have just browsed my e-mail. Prior to that, I watched about 15 minutes of the Olympics. Previous to that, I spoke to the SO for about 10 minutes. Just before he called, I ate a plateful of sauerkraut with a bit of pork and a bit more of turkey kielbasi. Now I want to go to bed and I feel like a big fat pig.
I worked from 1-9 and didn't get a break to eat. At least not when I was ready to eat. I had a sensible lunch before I left and took soup for my dinner. Never got to eat it so I came home very hungry. Even though my dinner was healthy, eating it at 9:30 is not the best thing for my diet or my stomach. I can hear the stomach acids battling each other as we speak.
Also, I have another freaking cold. Complete with cough, swollen glands and chills. This is the second one this winter. AS A NON-SMOKER. I never got sick whilst I was a smoker. This bites.
SO has been sick in China too. He had a fever while at work and asked for a driver to take him back to his hotel yesterday morning. They drove him to the hospital! They checked him out there; vital signs and such. His temperature was 38.83C. Yeah, doesn't mean much to me either. But I figured out it converts to about 102F. Yeah! Wowie. But they gave him the Western version of Tylenol and some tea (?). Now he's having some digestive issues. Poor thing. I hope he gets better. Wouldn't want him to have to cut his trip short or anything.............
What is cool though is that the hotel personnel have been treating him like a patient. Sent him a bowl of fruit, checking on him. Chinese hospitality is certainly world class, at least where the SO is staying.
Ok then, until I have something cool to blog about, this is all you're getting. I could complain about work, but that's not worth the little energy that I have, so I'll spare y'all that. Consider yourselves lucky.
PS. If any of y'all do not watch Grey's Anatomy, you are missing the best television has to offer. Just so you know.
I have been eating non-stop for 36 hours. Bad things like Fritos. I was sick last night because I ate so much. Someone stop me. Please.
I would like to give Udge credit, for Udge is who I stole this from, a truly amazing video. You must see this. No, the man has not cured cancer or performed open-heart surgery, and yet has performed one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I cannot comprehend how this is done. I don't believe I could ever be taught to do this. Take the whole 4 minutes and watch it. You will be glad you did.
Yes, we're having a bit of a wind issue here in Pennsylvania this morning. Gusting 40+ miles per hour and making for a noisy start to my day.
I had a rough night sleeping alone. I stayed up later than normal to watch the men's figure skating finals. I still had trouble falling asleep, even with the alcohol. I had troubling dreams about TuSon. I dreamt that he admitted to me he had been arrested numerous times for underage drinking and DUI. I was crushed. I also had dreams about work that were annoying but not troubling.
I woke myself up around 4am with a honking snore that reminded me of a pig snorting. It was disgusting. Woke the dog up too, since he's sleeping with me since Schmoop (formerly known as SO) is gone. I stayed awake thinking Schmoop would be calling any minute and he called at 4:30ish. His flight was good and he sounded chipper.
At about 5:00am the wind started getting really bad. Like freight train bad. I could hear things banging around (probably garbage cans) and thinking of the large trees surrounding the house made me uncomfortable. The wind was strong enough to set off a neighbor's car alarm. The temperature at this point was about 62 degrees.
For the next hour, the wind continued and so did the alarm. It was silenced in between, but this fucking alarm went off 5 times in the next hour. If I did manage to doze off I was awakened promptly by my insensitive neighbor's car. What an idiot. I was tempted to go out and 'disable' it myself. Moron.
My alarm went off at 6:00 and I thought I set it for 7. Fuck me. The wind was not going to allow me to relax and go back to sleep so I got up. The stupid car alarm is STILL going off and it's now 7:20. The wind though seems to have died down somewhat. Outside temperature now is 41 degrees.
BTW, if you watched the men's figure skating last night and saw the last guy perform...from Japan...did you see his ass? WOWIE.
Can you believe that "Pity Party" is a song? Did you even know that most all of my post titles are song titles? Except for Meme's, I think they all are. Didn't know that did ya??
Well, today started my 16 day pity party. And I kicked off this damn party with 2 peach Margaritas and now I'm drinking wine. I really don't want to be hung over for work tomorrow, but, Que sera, sera.
The pity party is being held, once again, because I have been abandoned. Abandoned by the same man that gave me the most awesome Valentine that I shared with all y'all on my last post. Gone. Left on a jet plane. Left me to drown my sorrows in alcohol. What a shmuck. (I checked the spelling of that and no, it doesn't have a "c" after the "c." I was surprised too.) (Oh and 'shmuck' is "obscene for 'penis'" according to a certain Yiddish dictionary in addition to being a derisive term for a male. Just so you know.)
Ok, in his defense, this is a business trip that he did not want to go on. In the first place, he has pink eye. He developed it on Tuesday and it was in full pinkness on Wednesday morning. He got drops for it but it was still quite painful this morning and he looked pretty shitty. If you've never had pink eye, you should know that you'd rather just keep your eyes closed than open them. Luckily, the 14+ hour flight does not require him to watch the road. He's in the air as we speak, not scheduled to land until 4:15am our time. I hate these long flights and am on edge until he calls to say he's safely on the ground. Even if it is on a different continent.
I got a whopping 5 questions to my plea for questions so I'd have something to think about besides my SOLITUDE today. Thank you to Nik, Debby, and last, but in no way least Jenny for obliging.
Nik beat Jenny to the question of "Why 'Three Time Loser'...what does it mean?" Now that's a damn good question. I'll give you my most honest, but lame answer: No real reason. This was a song that I used to hear on a jukebox (with 45 rpm records) about a hundred years ago. It was recorded by Conway Twitty on the version that I first heard it. I probably haven't heard it since then come to think of it. It was one of exactly one country record on that jukebox. The "b" side of the 45 was the title of an earlier post, "Don't Cry, Joni." I knew I wanted by blog title to be a song title and that just popped into my head. It brings fond memories to my mind. It's not how I view my life journey or love life or anything exciting like that.
Debby asked the other three questions, God love her. To answer her questions, in no particular order: A truck camper (on blocks), summer and 7-layer.
As I loathe long posts, I will end with these things to ponder: What the fuck is up with the Olympic events of:
I want to wish all of my new and special friends a very Happy Valentine's Day. You each mean so much to me and I thank you for being here. You're the best.
My Schmoopy got me the best and most perfect card in the world. As you may know, we just moved in together after 10 years of weekend dating. If you can't read it clearly, click on it for the original size. I am the luckiest girl in the world.
The snow we got over the weekend continues to be refreshed with squalls every so often. It's not the 26+ inches DC, NY and NJ got, but it still annoys the hell outta me. My sympathies to all of you that are still buried in the white stuff. If you are enjoying the snow, there is psychological help available. Check the yellow pages.
I had a busy weekend; some of it enjoyable. Friday night we went to dinner for Valentine's Day since I'm working Tuesday night. We tried a new restaurant that is located in an old bank building. Pretty cool place. The meal was okay, not spectacular, but we had a nice time.
I worked on Saturday and then we met my brother and his wife for dinner at one of those Japanese places that cooks at your table. We didn't have reservations and waited 1 1/2 hours for a table. I had a martini, so the wait was tolerable. It was a fun night but we all left smelling like grease. That was kind of gross.
Sunday we went to the car show, a big event that the SO always attends but I haven't been to for several years. I was glad I went since I wanted to scope out the goods for my next car purchase. I won't buy new and won't buy for a few years, so the crop of cars I saw will probably be the model year I will buy. Some really cool concept cars too and the occasional "if I won the lottery" choices.
Sorry for the lame post.....I have so much on my mind and do not have the ability to put it into words. Nor the time. The SO leaves on Thursday and I am off work that day so I'm sure I'll be on here boo-hooing. Meanwhile, I'm opening up the lines for questions. I'm looking for a distraction for Thursday so please, ask me ANYTHING YOU LIKE. I will answer all. I've got nothing to hide. At least as far as you know.
PS. Speaking of knee deep, Liqueur had a normal poo this morning. Hallelujah!
